Lisa MacKenzie spent time volunteering at an annual event to “Rake Up Boise.” Every year individuals in the community donate their time to rake leaves to help the elderly and disabled unable to complete this work on their own. This weekend was particularly enjoyable for Lisa as the evening before Rake Up Boise it snowed a couple of inches. The group cleaned up the leaves and also had some fun in the snow! This event has been going on for 27 years and organized by the Neighborhood Housing Services. To find out additional information about this exciting annual event visit click here. According to the Neighborhood Housing website over the 27 years of the program there have been about 123,000 volunteers and over 4 million pounds of leaf bags collected! This is an amazing cause and it is great to have the opportunity through GCS to give back to help those in need through events like Rack Up Boise.
