Relay for Life!

Emma spent an afternoon helping out at the American Cancer Society’s Boise Relay for Life on June 23, 2018. She helped check in teams, register new participants, and answer questions about the day’s activities. Participants relayed and took part in activities to remember loved ones lost and honor survivors of all types of cancer. Teams relayed for 8 hours to symbolize the ongoing fight against cancer. Luminarias were lit after dark to show those affected by cancer that they are not alone. This is the signature fundraising event for the ACS, is completely planned and run by volunteers, and takes place globally. The money raised by teams and individuals funds research, provides patient care services, and prevention and early detection programs. It was moving to be surrounded by so many people touched by cancer fighting to help find a cure and inspire hope in others.
