Volunteering with the Preston Historical Society!

Emma Nov.png

Emma spent time in November volunteering with the Preston Historical Society who works to perpetuate the history of the Town of Preston, Connecticut and preserve documents and records of history. The non-profit organization held a trivia night to raise funds for restoration of the Long Society Meetinghouse. The Meetinghouse is one of only a few remaining “broadside” meetinghouses remaining in the country and is a historical treasure for the area. The structure was built in 1817, replacing the original one built in 1726. To date, the Preston Historical Society has raised funds to restore the foundation, replace windows with replica antique glass, paint, and add granite steps to the steep hill to improve access to the community. They are currently fundraising to repair the Meeting house ceiling.
