Emma recently participated in the largest volunteer event in Idaho, Rake Up Boise. She spent the day raking leaves at two houses in her community of South Boise Village. She enjoyed being outside on a beautiful day both helping and meeting new neighbors. Over the past 31 years NeighborWorks Boise has organized this event. It helps seniors and disabled residents who are unable to maintain their yard due to physical or financial constraints. Biodegradable leaf bags are filled and composted, creating mulch that is used throughout the city, preventing unnecessary waste in the landfills. NeighborWorks Boise aids the community by creating housing solutions for underserved populations, including homeownership and foreclosure prevention counseling, mortgage lending, affordable apartment communities, and rehabilitation and construction of affordable homes.
